Ahhh, it's brilliant

I'm sure there are good reasons to include a photo of Father Dougal in your listing, as found by Edmund. True, I can't think what the reasons might be... but I'm starting to get the impression they do things a little differently in New Zealand. For example, it appears that they insulate houses with "button cods," which I believe is babytalk for what Americans, in our trademark-infringing way, call Q-Tips. That's what the listing says, anyway. I am so confused. Just like Dougal.

New or used "button cods"?

I'm sorry, but I believe I was promised roller disco. Didn't the ad say roller disco?

Does anyone else look at Father Whatshisname's face and think Mike Myers skit?

I'm beginning to like these Kiwis. Perhaps that's where I'll go if the election goes badly.

I guess the best thing about buying this house is that the seller won't be around - or will he?

And the listing is just as great as the photos.

"A Groovy, funky home 2 chillax in!"
Does chillax mean chill and relax or chill and ax things?

"Off street parkin for 4 gazillion matchbox cars 1 tortoise & 1 cheese butty"
Because I certainly never know where to put my cheese butty.

Here they are called Cotton Buds. Are you just having a Spoonerism moment? I love the Kiwis!

Teehee - "Johnson's Button Cods - for everyone's important little places." That's a blast from the past.

Lizzie, us Kiwis call them cotton buds too, 'button cods' comes from an ad they ran back in the 80's, featuring a bunch of babies over-dubbed with adults' voices which ended with the slogan above.

I love this listing. The fact that it's on the street right next to the world's steepest street (Baldwin st) is even better - and the lister is right.. it is about as steep as Baldwin.

To answer anonymous' question, chillax is indeed 'chill' and 'relax' squished together, although I think the person who made this listing may have been a little too 'chillaxed' if you know what I mean..

I am not saying anything about New Zealand and you can't make me.

Ditto re the Mike Myer skit though.

Sara, You are forcing me to plan a move to NZ. I had never considered it before, but since reading your blog I think I must go and go now!

Did you notice the subliminal message "YES" in photo 20? ohj

Never heard of button cods? My mom was from Scotland and always said cotton buds but never the other way. BTW, LOVE LOVE LOVE Father Ted!! Great pick.
