Cross-ventiliation is so important.

Four bedrooms! Two bathrooms! What more could you ask for? I can't think of a single thing. (Found by Ellen on FAIL Blog.)

Yeah, but ALL that for the bargain price of $100???? You know if this was in So Cal it would still list at something like $250K. Hee hee.

Huh??? Where did they get the rooms and dimensions - thin air???

Um ... yeah.

Style - colonial? How could they tell?

Sigh, soooo sad what is happening to Detroit...

Might be worth $100 just to own a speck of land.... My grandkids might make something out of it someday...

Surely this listing has been manipulated in some way. Even in Detroit I would think the lot would be worth more than $100! Perhaps some hacker has attacked realtor.com?

Is that the kitchen laying on it's side in the front yard?
The listing says "forced air" - does that refer to any wind that happens by?
I might consider it if someone will like maybe toss a plastic bag over the roof or something - except Detroit schools...nah, never mind.

This is so very sad, I Googled it just to see where it is in the city.

Oh no, someone dropped a house on this leafy garden, blimey, what are the chances of that happening?!

Wow--forced air heating! No kidding.

Isn't that the Shreiking Shack from Harry Potter?

I think it's funny that the ad talks about "interior features", given that there does not appear to be an interior.

If you look at Google Maps' Street View of this address, there's definitely a house nearby that is similar to this one - although it's still in one piece. The lot looks a little different, though, so it's very strange.

Wow. WOW. Can they really even sell that? Shouldn't it be condemned or something?

This doesn't seem to match up to what is on Google Streetview. There are two blank lots, so it is possible it was torn down already - but the photo looks woodsy and on Streetview there are always houses in the background. Very curious.

Anyone live in the Detroit metro area? You HAVE to request a showing and report back!!!

Well, it is listed as a great investment...and for only $100! Maybe the dogs from the other listing could buy it.

I'm currently looking for a house in Detroit actually... why wasn't I shown this gem??

Bwahahahaha....

They said, "Forced air".

They say the "Year Built" was 1910, but they forgot to mention the "Year Destroyed."

Love the Victorian facade. The whole thing is kind of a facade don't you think....

But if they're just selling the lot, why do they describe it as "4 bedrooms, 1.5 baths?"

Anonymous said...

Detroit...yes, it is believable.

I dunno--the "forced air" in Detroit should make it a hot seller...It would be perfect for the outdoor enthusiast.

I *knew* I recognized this house! :) I grew up in Detroit, still have family in the area.

(but PS, there were actually some gorgeous properties going for $15K or less in Detroit, and this is about right - buy the house for $100, pay a TON in back taxes to the city....you have a house though...or....you have a foundation.....)

Would you want to live in a neighborhood that has become depopulated and overgrown? Where any houses that remain are generally used by drug dealer/addicts, and the rest look like this, ready to be set on fire or collapse? Every so often there is an old couple that has lived in a neighborhood like this for 50 years in a well-kept home that is trapped by the blight around them.

There are dozens of neighborhoods like this in Detroit, and hundreds of houses like this. This is an incredible tragedy for this beautiful city.
