My blue-tarp suburb

This house is not far from mine, and they've represented the area perfectly in this photo:

1. Blue tarp
2. Car up on blocks
3. Blackberry bush
4. Rain

Ah, home.

God, I miss Washington!

That's not blue tarp. That's wrapping paper. They'll add a bow on the roof and surprise their brother-in-law with his new accommodations. (He's currently living in the car on blocks.)

The best thing about this photo? I saw it and thought to myself, "OMG that is SO Mountlake Terrace!". then I clicked on the link....

I think it is even near my aunt's house.

Is that the backyard? And why is the top of the car dirtier than the top of the tarp?

From the listing:

Parking Type: Off-Street Parking
Parking Type: No Parking

So, um, which is it?

Oh and, I thought we had the market cornered on rednecks here in NC!

Every red-blooded American needs something under an OSHA blue tarp in their yard.

Gosh, that looks like my back yard (minus the car up on blocks!), my husband, no matter how much I protest, has this thing about blue tarps. (And we actually live in a nice nieghborhood, I am surprised our neighbors put up with us.) We WILL take them down when we take photos to sell the house, I promise!

You're local? I love you even more. That house is two exits away.

Heh, the blue tarp is rampant in the southern parts of the NW too - a Clatsop County specialty. In Washington County where I live they use the classier silver tarps from Bi-Mart.

This is too cool. We lived in Mountlake Terrace back in the mid 1990s and yes, the TARPS.
We thought it was a city rule- as a "Terricite" you must have at least two tarps on your property at all times.

My kids loved those blackberry bushes behind Markland Woods. Blackberries are horrible to eradicate but...fresh blackberry cobbler is very good.

Funny website- love your clever commentary!!!!

Priced to sell at 200-grand ?!?!?!?! I'd sooner live in the car on blocks!

"Has some decent qualities. Laminate flooring new windows, 10X20 car cover in the back. Small out building in pretty good shape. Roof is good just has moss on it."

Since when is a blue tarp considered a selling point? Roof just has moss? Uh...

My neighbor has the exact same thing going on. Except his is a barn roof covered with blue tarp and a pick up truck on blocks.

Haha! That is exactly what I was afraid of when our real estate agent said we would probably have to buy in the North End. We ended up in Shoreline...sort of in the blue tarp section of it. Sigh...

Not that I'm one to talk. My husband still has just about every car he's ever owned and we have 2 of the (non-working) older ones in our driveway. But not up on blocks! And it's a biiiiiiig driveway - really! Luckily, he still owns property with his ex in Bothell and keeps the vast majority of them there. Hmm...I'm making my world sound stranger and stranger...

Um, anyway. I came by to thank you for your kind comments on my blog and to invite you to come over and enter into my 100th post give-away contest. Swing on by!

Mountlake Terrace? Really? I thought for sure it would be Kent. ;-)

I used to live in Shoreline, right off Ballinger Way... this reminds me of how much I'm glad that's no longer my hood.
