You're so sadly neglected, and often ignored

Yeah, I know just how you feel. The thought of cleaning my garage makes me depressed, too.

(Found by Jackie, who might buy the house despite the noose.)

this is too funny. I feel the same way when I have to clean the bathroom.

Ever spent a winter in Finland? C-c-cold, dark, and long. Then you go downstairs (or to the garage) looking for some cheer and see all that mess and-- well, stuff just happens.

'Course, once you get everything all set up, you realize that there's not enough clearance for the rope to do anything, so you just go back to the living room and keep drinking and dream of summer.

I'd buy the house despite the "no-cross" sign in the bedroom and the noose in the basement. Get a load of that bookcase! I'm in Love!

Finland you say? My grandparents moved to the US from there..

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I quite want to be

@Chayza: the "no-cross" sign is a poster for Bad Religion, a punk band that formed in California in the 1980s and that has had a 25-year career at this point. If you want to know where pop-punk like Green Day came from, Bad Religion were a big influence on that genre. I had a few friends who were big fans of BR back in the day.

The noose is still pretty off-putting though. But bookcases are good. I'm refraining from new book purchases until I find a house to put them all in.

Also in the other photos of the basement there's a machine that suddenly reminds me of the ECT machine in Return to Oz.

It's a poor second to Belgium when going abroad.

Update: I went to see this house yesterday (coincidentally the same day this posted), and I will definitely not be buying it. It wasn't so much the noose that put me off as the fact that the house is located between a bar and the train tracks. It also needs a lot more renovation than the listing would lead you to believe. While it's not for me, it would be ideal for a heavy drinker with carpentry skills.

Oh, also Chazya: the bookcases were free-standing, so I doubt they convey.

Noose schmoose....has no one addressed the 800 lb. gorilla in the room (i.e. the iron lung/WWI submarine in the basement)?

Or is that just a gigantic can of Spam?
*must refrain from a Python reference*

I'm guessing that the plastic white flag of surrender was once positioned close to the hangman's rope.

"Go 5t!"

Well i've heard people say the current housing market was depressing. Someone buy this house quickly, you may save a life!

Well, Finland does have the highest per capita suicide rate in the world, having surpassed the perma-depressed Hungarian people a few years back. Hence, the noose. Not for actual use, just to remind the the proud owner that Finland is #1 at something.
