She'll be right.
"How can we take a photo in this haze? The air's as thick as a my mum's Pavlova!"
"No worries. We'll just blow the smoke away with this fan."
"Good on ya! That's that sorted, then. Take the snap and let's go to the hotel for some hunkies of snook-lolly."
"I have no idea what you just said."
"Me neither. Sorry. I think she's just making this crap up."
"Cheers."

Looks like a converted beach motel. Note the towel hanging over the second floor railing.
And if it is such a "nice place" - why does the window have to be covered with a jail-type grating, as seen in the other available picture? Why no indoor pictures? Hmmm.... spooky...
That place would depress the heck out of me.
No beaches in Queanbeyan - it's inland. It does look grim, but that area is not known as a "desirable residential" town... hence the window bars!
The smoke is probably from the recent bush fires in Victoria - it blows for hundres of miles. The fires have been burning, on and off, for weeks.
On the other hand, most of northern Australia has been under water for about the same period of time...
We live in a tough country!

As an Aussie, I should feel insulted ...
But strangely I was laughing too hard ...
I'm insulted that you think the Australians invented the pavlova. Dammit it was us Kiwis! They can keep their claim to Lamingtons though.
I love this site. I really do. I need a life.
Not a bad photo but needs the hands of a proper photo technician to get better. See what it can look like here www.powerretoucher.com/badphoto after a little retouch.
Strewth! yep I'd guess the day that was taken was as dry as a dead dingo's donga.
Of course the air is much clearer here in beudiful canberra
