It gives a lovely light
Another delight from Mary, the Nebraskan realtor. Yes, it's a wood-burning stove. Suspended from the ceiling. In the basement.

And the flu goes up to the 1st. floor bathroom?
Dear Sara,
My girlfriend and I just recently found this blog and we want you to know that you are our new hero. We literally have gone on craigslist before simply to search out pictures such as these, so we are very glad you have collected the cream of the disastrous real estate crop.
So thank you. This is hilarious and we love you.
Reasons for suspending the stove:
- The flue was too short and we couldn't figure out how to make it longer. The hardware store doesn't carry a "flue-stretcher."
- The stove was missing its stand when we bought it at the yard sale, and the new stand we made out of wood didn't work out too well.
- Bad things happened when we put the stove on the electrified floor.
- Stove kept getting knocked over when we hosted raves in the basement.
I think the reason was so it wouldn't get in the way of the Roomba vacuum cleaner.
Or they were just crazy.
Love your blog. Where did that huge tree come from in front of the windows in the second photo? It's not there in the first photo. Everything else is identical. Just "no tree" and then suddenly "tree." I don't get it.
In the first photo, you see the front of the house. In the second photo, you see the front of the house where there is suddenly a huge tree that is not there in the first photo! Where did it come from? Photoshop? Miraclegro? The shots are virtually identical -- except for the tree!
"Suspended from the ceiling. In the basement."
... over carpet.
brilliant.
